Quick trip to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Terry Myers and I went to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to see the epiphyllum exhibit.  This is their prime time for blooms & the lathe house where they are kept is normally open 7 days a week at this time of year.  I remembered visiting there in previous years and enjoying all the beautiful blooms.  Unfortunately for us, they are now only open on weekends with a volunteer there due to vandalism.
Last year, according to one of the Park volunteers, there were folks that decided to pick some of the blooms.   Visitors must have picked one too many, because now it's closed during the week and only open on weekends when a volunteer can stand guard.   We were very disappointed, and I'm sure the volunteers/owners of the plants were too.

The exhibit is available only because of many volunteers who keep their plants here and maintain them all year for this once-a-year bloom. To all the volunteers who work so hard on this exhibit, we appreciate all your hard work and were sorry to hear this news.

So, instead of posting beautiful flower photos today, I'm posting a few bird photos taken at the Park's aviary.   They, too, are beautiful, just in a different way.
