Photo Montage class

I've signed up for Carol Leigh's Photo Montage class -- I've taken her class in the past, but needed a boost to get back into doing montage/collage work.

So my posting today is just a few of the things I'm working on for the first assignment.  So much fun!

I'll have to collect other leaves to photograph and use in other montage pieces.  I'm really liking these!

Day at Balboa Park

I spent the day at Balboa Park with my sister & brother-in-law.  Unfortunately the Botanical Bldg. is closed on Thursdays (I'm probably the only person who didn't know this information   ;-)

Fortunately there are so many other things to do here.  We walked, looked, and ate a great lunch at the Prado Restaurant.   I felt lucky to be able to see this hummingbird on the flowers.  He seemed to be posing for me!    Also took a lot of other photos of the buildings, other flowers, but these are my favorites.

Lunch time ...

Lunch at the Cafe on the Ocean Beach Pier today -- I love their lobster tacos.  This seagull was ready for anything.  He flew right over to the window when our food was served.  I'm just thankful we had the window between us, or I think my lobster would have disappeared.  He did tap on the window a few times, then gave up.

And, no, I didn't share.

If you find yourself in the San Diego area, check out the Cafe on the Pier in Ocean Beach -- lobster tacos, lobster omelets, great fish & chips too.  And seagulls!

Macro day today day.

Macro with iPhone

I have a Olloclip that attaches to my iPhone that allows me to take macro photos.  It is a challenge --  I probably should use a tripod, because it is hard to hold the phone steady enough, but I don't like to use them with my big camera and it seems strange to attache the tiny iPhone to one.   I steadied my hand on the table & played a bit with focusing.  Decided to post these two, top one is a feather, bottom one is stamens of an alstroemeria flower.    Enjoy!

Happy January 1st.

Persimmons are the theme for the day!    When I left my son & daughter-in-law's house (SF Bay area), they gave me some persimmons from the huge tree in their backyard.  Yummy!   They aren't ripe yet, so thought I'd photograph them, before I eat all of then.   I love eating them with just a few drops of lemon juice sprinkled over the slices.    There aren't enough to eat & cook with, but if anyone has any favorite persimmon recipes, be sure & let me know.   I might be tempted to use them in a recipe.
